The quality of our product has never been more important, than it is now. Businesses across various industries strive to make environmentally conscious choices at every stage of production.
At Citribel, we have embraced the challenge of integrating sustainable solutions into our production process (proudly Made in Belgium 🇧🇪!), ensuring that our commitment to the environment remains unwavering.
By focusing on two forms of citric acid, anhydrous and monohydrate, we provide the opportunity to optimize organic acid concentration for different purposes. We take advantage of the anhydrous form to reduce material usage by 8.6% compared to monohydrate crystals.
At Citribel, we carefully remove water molecules from the structure of our citric acid crystals during drying.
This method ensures citric acid anhydrous with no more than 0.2% water.
An important difference compared to other suppliers, which may contain up to five liters of water per ton, thereby potentially affecting the final result.
The pressing concern about the presence of heavy metals stems from their potential adverse effects on both human health and the environment. Some of these elements are classified as human carcinogens, capable of causing organ damage even at low exposure levels.
At Citribel, we adhere to a stringent limit of 1 ppm, setting us apart from other suppliers who maintain upper limits five to ten times higher. Moreover, we proactively conduct rigorous monitoring of various metals present in our products, including but not limited to arsenic, lead, mercury, barium, copper, zinc, iron, magnesium, and aluminium.
This stringent approach ensures that our products not only meet the highest quality standards but also prioritize the well-being of our consumers and the environment.
Thirdly, at Citribel, we pay attention to monitoring the presence of these components in our products. Notably, our proactive approach stands in contrast to other suppliers whose iron concentration limits can be up to 50 times higher, reflecting similar trends observed with calcium (20 times higher) and chlorides (10 times higher).
By maintaining strict control over these minerals, we ensure that our products not only meet the highest quality standards but also prioritize the well-being of our consumers and the environment.
Citribel’s citric acid stands apart by completely excluding tridodecylamine, a compound commonly found in solvent-extracted citric acid. Tridodecylamine is flagged to potentiallyharm the fertility of an unborn child, cause organ damage through prolonged or repeated exposure, pose toxicity to aquatic life with long-lasting effects, and lead to severe eye and skin irritation.
Our commitment to eliminating such harmful chemicals and solvents ensures that our production process remains eco-friendly and prioritizes the safety of both our employees, customers, and the environment.
By significantly reducing sulfates and oxalates in our production, we contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment. Our meticulous approach to sustainability not only benefits the present but also lays a strong foundation for a sustainable and thriving future.
